2024 Pride Dabbler Preview

On Friday, June 28th, from 5-9pm, the 2024 Pride Dabbler is happening at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and Parade Stadium. This is always a gigantic celebration of fun. As Pride Month wraps up, the Beer Dabbler has always made sure to create a fantastic atmosphere to celebrate inclusion, gay pride, and craft beer. If you don’t have your tickets yet, get them here from the Beer Dabbler!

This will only be my second Pride Dabbler that I have been able to attend, so I am so excited to drink some great beers and see breweries out in support of GLBTQ+ friends. Many of the breweries will be pouring a beer made specifically for pride. In addition to beer, there will be food trucks, and all sorts of other entertainment.

If you want to be able to keep track of the beers and look at the list, make sure you download the Beer Dabbler Fest Buddy app on IOS or Android. I have gone through and picked out a few beers that I am excited to try at the Pride Dabbler.

Here are 10 beers that will be perfect for a night out celebrating pride. This list will highlight any Pride-themed beers or styles that really pair well with evenings in June.

A cream ale is a nice, easy-drinking style. This is a beer that has become a seasonal favorite of the Nine Mile Brewing faithful. It is the brainchild of Riley Yawn-White, a brewer at Nine Mile. It is bittersweet because Riley is moving on from Nine Mile Brewing, so make sure to stop by the Nine Mile Brewing booth and give Riley a cheers.

This beer was brewed in collaboration with the LGBTQ+ staff at Arbeiter Brewing. They created the idea, recipe, name, and brewed the beer. This wheat ale with apricot, pear, and ginger. The combination of these fruits flavors should play quite well off each other.

I first had this beer several weeks ago at a drag show at Broken Clock Brewing Cooperative. It was poured out of a pineapple and onto Petty Treason, a burlesque performer, who was hosting and performing in the show. I cannot wait to try this beer again. Pineapple is a great flavor for beer in the summer. Pineapples mean different things to different people. Regardless of how you embrace hospitality, this beer is going to feel welcome on your palate.

My liquid interactions have been far fewer since Dangerous Man Brewing’s taproom closed in fall of 2023. Yet, Dangerous Man Brewing remains a fixture in my heart and an entity that is synonymous with craft beer in Minnesota. Dangerous Man’s Watermelon Sour is a sure sign of summer. It will be flowing like a mullet in the 1991 Minnesota Twins World Series parade celebration. Make sure you get a pour or two.

Some things that usually take me fifteen minutes are, in no particular order: the daily Wordle, making a box of Kraft Mac & Cheese from start to finish, and staring at a really life-like sculpture of an Irish Wolf Hound to assert my dominance. One thing that never takes me fifteen minutes is to drink a glorious pint of IPA from Dual Citizen Brewing Company. Lucky for all of us, Dual Citizen is bringing a special IPA called Fifteen Minutes of Flame to the Pride Dabbler! If you want to spend fifteen minutes drinking it, I say go for it. Just don’t block the line so others have to wait.

Fulton Beer created an homage to Megan Rapinoe, their 2024 Pride Icon. This beer uses pounds of smashed strawberries and the base of a blonde ale to create a crisp and refreshing sip of summer. It is sure to quench your thirst at the Pride Dabbler!

I would say that HeadFlyer Brewing is pretty well known for their IPAs. However, after that, their sours are always on-point. For the Pride Dabbler, they created Radiant Baby. No, this was not in reference to the Thomas Edison documentary chronicling his ill-fated foray into glow-in-the-dark onesies for toddlers. Instead, it is a beer inspired by artist Keith Haring and features a sweet, tart finish with a pink hue.

Lift Bridge Brewing made this beer special for the Pride Dabbler. The beer is inspired by Daniel Levy’s character from Schitt’s Creek. Rose Apothecary inspired this sparkling golden ale with raspberry and rose hips. Rather than saying, “Eww, David,” you’ll be saying, “Can I have another pour, David?”

This is a hazy IPA brewed with all Citra hops. It also has oats, wheat, and Kernza in the grail bill which should add a wonderful texture. Slay All Day! was brewed in collaboration with Rochester Pride, and I am happy to see that Little Thistle will be pouring at the Pride Dabbler!

This Wandering Leaf Brewing IPA is inspired by Xena Warrior Princess. It is brewed with Warrior and Amarillo hops that should give it a nice West Coast feel. I have really enjoyed the beers I have had at Wandering Leaf and I am happy to see that they are bringing this to the Pride Dabbler.

Hopefully this list gets you ready for the Pride Dabbler. I cannot wait to partake. Rain or shine, it will be a fantastically gay celebration of inclusion and beer. I want to thank The Beer Dabbler for press passes to cover the event in person. It is going to be an absolute blast! Cheers!
